The Shelly 1PM Mini GEN4 is the latest, fourth-generation version of Shelly’s compact single-channel smart relay with integrated power metering. Like its predecessor, it supports switching up to 8A of current and includes built-in energy monitoring that can be tracked in real-time via the Shelly app.

As with all Shelly devices, the 1PM Mini GEN4 can connect directly to your Wi-Fi router without the need for a local hub, bridge, or gateway. It also features native Matter compatibility. Additionally, Shelly GEN4 devices support an alternative communication mode, which must be selected before pairing. This allows the device to operate over Zigbee, enabling connection to a Zigbee gateway or coordinator. Regardless of the selected mode, the device is perfectly suited for automating a light or other electric consumer – or even for integration into a full smart home system, such as in a property undergoing renovation.

This is one of the smallest-sized smart relays on the market that supports both Wi-Fi and Zigbee control. Its ultra-compact form allows it to fit easily behind standard wall switches or inside junction boxes – even when retrofitting.

When installed behind existing wall switches, the Shelly 1PM Mini GEN4 enables remote control of your lighting or other connected appliances, while keeping manual switch operation fully functional. This makes it ideal for smart upgrades to existing electrical systems. It works well behind momentary or toggle switches, but due to its 8A current limit, it’s not recommended for outlet control.

The relay includes a switch input, so you can continue using your wall switch while also controlling the device remotely via Wi-Fi. You can also configure auto on/off timers, and if needed, the physical switch input can be disabled via the app – a useful safety feature, for instance, in children's rooms.

The Shelly 1PM Mini GEN4 is compatible with both toggle and momentary (push-button) wall switches, and it can be configured for two-way or cross (staircase) switch setups. The auto-off feature can also be used to enable pulse (impulse) switching.

Power Metering Functionality

The built-in power meter allows precise monitoring of the connected load’s consumption. The app displays both real-time power (W) and total energy usage (kWh), helping you optimize energy usage and reduce electricity costs in your home.
