The Shelly 1PM Gen4 is a fourth-generation smart relay with built-in power monitoring and supports control of electrical loads up to 16A (3500W). It is an ideal solution for automating lighting, household appliances, and other electrical devices. It comes with improved communication reliability, increased memory, and Matter compatibility, offering more flexibility for integration into smart home systems.

The Shelly 1PM Gen4 is the latest generation of the 1-gang smart relay previously known as the Shelly 1PM Gen3. Like its predecessor, it supports switching up to 16A and includes an energy monitoring function accessible via the mobile app.

As with all Shelly devices, the 1PM Gen4 connects directly to your Wi-Fi router without requiring a local hub, controller, or gateway. It also supports native Matter integration. In addition, Gen4 devices include a secondary operating mode that must be selected before pairing, allowing zigbee communication with a zigbee gateway or coordinator.

Whether you use it in Wi-Fi or zigbee mode, it's well-suited for automating individual appliances or integrating into a full smart home system, such as during property renovation projects.

Its compact size allows installation behind standard wall switches or inside junction boxes, even for retrofit use.

Installed behind an existing wall switch, the Shelly 1PM Gen4 allows remote control of lighting and connected appliances while keeping the physical switch functional. This makes it ideal for making existing systems smart. Unlike the Mini version, its 16A max current rating makes it suitable for socket control as well.

The relay includes a switch input, so the wall switch can still be used even when the device is controlled over Wi-Fi. You can configure automatic on/off timers or even disable the wall switch entirely via the app – a helpful feature for children’s rooms.

The Shelly 1PM Gen4 is compatible with both toggle and momentary (push-button) switches, and supports 2-way and cross-switch wiring. It can also operate in impulse switching mode with an auto-off function.

The integrated power meter enables accurate tracking of the energy usage of connected devices, supporting energy efficiency and encouraging more conscious power consumption.
