SONOFF SNZB-05P Water Leak / Flood Sensor, with Detection Cable (set)

The Sonoff SNZB-05P is a Zigbee water leak and flood sensor, a tiny smart home sensor using the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, which sends alerts and trigger scenes though a Zigbee 3.0 gateway. Its tiny small size allows easy placement on the floor close to boilers, radiators, washing machines and dishwashers, and other places exposed to pipe bursts and water leak. The sensor detects water as small as 0.5mm and is designed to work also on metal surfaces (without false alarms).  The sensor can be used in two positions, can detect water on the ground when the sensor is turned downwards, and can detect dripping water  (thanks to its concave design) when it is turned upwards.

Water damage often goes unnoticed until it is too late. The SONOFF SNZB-05P Water Leak Detector detects leaks in real time and sends instant notifications via the eWeLink app. Even in the event of a Wi-Fi network outage, local Zigbee scenes can activate voice alarms on compatible Zigbee-gateways (e.g. Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Ultra). It also supports email notifications (with eWeLink Advanced subscription plan) and SMS notifications (with eWeLink Advanced subscription plan and IFTTT setup). Multiple notifications allow you to take swift action to prevent costly damage and mold growth. The sensor sends alerts every ten minutes during water leakage events to prevent missed notifications due to network fluctuations, ensuring your property’s safety.

Communicating through an eWeLink Zigbee gateway, such as a Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro, it transmits data to the eWeLink cloud and can be used to control other Sonoff or SmartWise WiFi and eWeLink devices based on its alarm triggers.

It can be paired with SONOFF NSPanel Pro, SONOFF iHost, SONOFF ZB Bridge / ZB Bridge-P / ZB Bridge-U eWeLink platform Zigbee gateways, and thanks to the Zigbee 3.0 standard, is compatible with other Zigbee 3.0 gateways such as Aeotec SmartThings hub v3. Also, easy to add to your Home Assistant home automation system using ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT (Zigbee adapter required, e.g. SONOFF ZBDongle-P / ZBDongle-E).

What is the Zigbee protocol?

Most Sonoff products use Wi-Fi and RF as communication modes, which allow for more affordable products compared to other smart home technologies, but are not specifically IoT standards.

Zigbee, on the other hand, is an ideal communication solution specifically for low-power devices where there is not a large amount of data transfer, but where the lowest possible time latency is important. Zigbee is a good choice for battery-powered sensors or remote controllers, for example, where Zigbee offers multiple uptimes compared to WiFi. Zigbee sensors cannot be used on their own, they require a Zigbee gateway to connect them to your home/office network.

The nature of Zigbee technology means that pairing with individual Zigbee devices is a snap, much faster than pairing with Wi-Fi.

Used with water leak detection cable (sold together in this sensor + cable set, but additional cables are also sold separately), whether it's wide-range detection or narrow-area inspection, ideal for monitoring basements, laundry rooms, and under sinks. The extension cable can be connected in series without any limit on the total length.

Powered by a CR2477 battery, the SNZB-05P offers over 5 years of use, eliminating concerns about frequent battery replacements. It has an IP67 waterproof and dustproof rating, providing short-term immersion protection and ensuring reliable operation in humid and dusty environments. The sensor is equipped with gold-plated probes for enhanced corrosion resistance and made from UV-resistant materials to prevent discoloration over time.
