Nous B1Z smart Tuya Zigbee mini relay module, with switch input, 1-gang

One of the new products from the European Nous brand is the Nous B1Z 1-gang smart relay without a consumption meter function, equipped with a Tuya Zigbee chip, which can be used for controlling socket outlets or light switches, or any other device with a maximum consumption of 16A. It also supports dry contact switching, making it suitable for controlling garage doors and gate opener motors.

The Nous B1Z relay module contains a Tuya Zigbee chip and needs to be connected to a Tuya Zigbee gateway using the Tuya / SmartLife smartphone app for remote control.

What is the Tuya / SmartLife smart home platform and app? 

Tuya is a popular cloud-based smart home platform offering integrated solutions for various smart home devices and applications. The platform allows quick and easy pairing, remote control, and management of devices through a single app interface. Known as both Tuya and SmartLife, it provides users with a comprehensive smart home ecosystem featuring products from numerous manufacturers.

It supports voice control, remote access, and automated processes (scenes). Tuya's cloud-based integration extends to other smart home ecosystems such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings, allowing Tuya devices to be used on these platforms as well. Similar to the global eWeLink platform, Tuya is also cloud-based, though the quality of available Tuya devices varies more widely.

In the Tuya range, the European Nous brand offers stable quality Tuya devices, which can be used with both the Nous app and the standard Tuya app.

The Nous B1Z Tuya Zigbee smart switch module is a 1-gang smart relay module. It supports 100-240V AC, 24-48V DC, or 12V DC power supplies. The module's unique feature is its single-channel power measurement capability, allowing it to measure the consumption of controlled devices and control them based on consumption data.

With its built-in Tuya Zigbee chip, it can connect to Nous's own Zigbee gateway or other standard Tuya Zigbee gateways. The device is suitable for smartphone control with the Nous app, but according to experiences, more functions are available when using the Tuya app.

Thanks to its small size, it fits into standard depth in-wall boxes behind traditional light switches. It has an input for the light switch, allowing the "smartified" wall switches to continue functioning as before.

The Nous B1Z relay module is designed for the Tuya smart home system, primarily operating in cloud mode. However, with Tuya Zigbee gateways capable of local caching and running automations without an internet connection, its automations can also work offline.

When connected to a Tuya Zigbee gateway, it supports voice control with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and (for iOS phones) Siri.
